Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline has put together a Renewable Energy Fair for Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 10 am -3 pm, at Maple Hill High School, 1216 Maple Hill Rd, Castleton-On-Hudson, NY 12033. Castleton is close to NY Routes 20 and 9, and is just this (east) side of the Hudson River, before you get to Albany. There will be about 40 exhibitors there giving you a one stop shopping opportunity for answering all your renewable questions, (and) thereby facilitating a plan to reduce your carbon footprint. Admission and parking are free. There will also be children’s activities and food. In addition to exhibitors there will be a series of 15 minute presentations on different topics. The following expertise will be available at the Fair:
·       Look at, compare and test drive an electric vehicle
·       Learn about how to use geothermal heat and heat pumps to reduce your heating costs.
·       Talk to companies that sell and lease solar power
·       Find out if your property is good for wind power
·       Charge your cell phone in a solar van full of solar interactive educational displays
·       Come see how a wind turbine works
·       Sign a petition
·       See what local environmental groups are doing to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and how you can become involved
·       Don’t have enough sun at your house, find out about buying solar panel from a solar farm or switching your electric provider to one that provides wind and solar energy.
·       Learn what you can do to put pressure on our elected officials to speed up our transition to renewable energy and away from fossil fuels.
·       Learn about a variety of ways you can better insulate your home to reduce your energy costs
·       Find out how to invest in renewables and divest from fossil fuels
·       Learn about free energy audits and electric company rebates
·       Pet an alpaca, bounce in a bouncy house, create a dinosaur mask or make an environmental poster
·       Look at a solar boat and find out how it was built
Learn about a degree program at SUNY Cobleskil in Environmental and Energy Technology
·       Learn how to compost to prevent landfill overflow and create good garden nutrition
